BikeSmart
RAPAC is the statewide leader for the BikeSmart program, which was developed by the Vermont Bicycle and Pedestrian Coalition and the Vermont Agency of Transportation. RAPAC has presented the program to over 3000 people (mostly school aged kids) since 2003.
This is a four-point bike safety presentation that introduces or reviews the basics of safe bicycle operation in 30-60 minutes:
- Wear a Helmet—Why and How to
- Dress “Bright and Tight” –wear clothes that make you visible and are appropriate for riding.
- Do an ABC Quick Check (Air, Brakes, Chain/crank and Quick All Over Check) of your bike before every ride.
- Follow the Rules of the Road—keep right, obey road signs, don’t ride on sidewalks, etc.
The presentations can be tailored to be suitable for all ages. To schedule a BikeSmart training in Rutland County, call 802-353-0037 or email contact@rapac.info. |
