Wallingford Pond
OVERVIEW: An easy walk to a good-sized body of water.
TOTAL MILEAGE: 1.6 miles
ELEVATION GAIN: 50 feet
TERRAIN: Abandoned woodroad, a little rough but nearly level.
LOCATION: From the intersection of US Route 7 and VT Route 140 at the stop light in Wallingford village take Route 140 east for 2.3 miles; bear right onto Sugar Hill Road for 1.7 miles; turn right onto Forest Road 20 for 2.3 miles to a trailhead sign on the left near the end of the drivable road. Park on the left. Start your hike behind the trailhead sign.
ROUTE DESCRIPTION: Follow woodroad for 0.8 miles through mixed forest to the shore of the pond.Return by the same route.
POINTS OF INTEREST: Now called Wallingford Pond, this was once known to locals as Spectacle Pond because of its shape.
